review of Kokomo/Max Creek
The Ritz, New York NY
by Toni A Brown
(Kokomo portion deleted)
Max Creek had opened the show with a fine performance. Their usual
NYC haunts are the smaller clubs, and it was a treat to see them perform in this
larger venue. It gave them more room to stretch their talents. And their set was
entirely devoid of any Grateful Dead covers leaving them to stand on their own
merit. And they stood tall! Their styles are undoubtedly influenced by the Dead,
but they certainly deserve their own distinction.
